FAQs
We require payment of a non-refundable deposit to secure event bookings at 28 York Place.
No booking is confirmed until a deposit has been received. Provisional bookings or holding event space is not offered.
Children are welcome to attend all private events for the full duration agreed.
Our venue is suitable for up to 100 guests for informal parties, 120 for a drinks reception and 60 guests for sit down dinners.
Own and external catering, with the exception of party cakes, is not permitted.
Cancellation terms
a. More than 30 days notice: Deposit surrendered
b. 15-30 days notice: 25% of anticipated spend
c. 14 days notice or less: Event fully chargeable
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable in all circumstances. The organiser should ensure appropriate insurance exists in the event of cancellation.
Live music is not permitted for any events at 28 York Place.

Young people are welcome to attend events. We operate a challenge 25 policy. Those customers who look under 25 and are asked to produce ID will not be served until they can do so.
We do not allow 18th Birthday parties.
Yes, you can book your own DJ or you can hire our sound system and play your own music.
Yes, our events team will advise on how you can decorate the space. We also have a choice of table centrepieces for you to choose from.
Access for decorating the room or for set up from external suppliers can be arranged with the team.
Bookings in our Bar28 space have a minimum spend of £500.
Our Milne suite has a venue hire fee and minimum catering numbers, if providing food.
28 York Place is an 18th century Georgian townhouse and we are located in a World Heritage site. As a result, we don’t have a lift and all our event spaces are accessed using stairs.
Bar28 is located on our main floor, accessed by 4 steps at our entrance.
Our Milne suite and meeting rooms are accessed by staircase only.
Both our Milne function suite and Bar28 are cashless venues.
